Gene Marini

Gene has spent over two decades developing industry relationships and executing transactions across North American energy markets. Currently as the Head of West Origination at NRG, he oversees deal flow across power, natural gas, and environmental products from inception through close.

He has held leadership and senior origination roles across diverse platforms, including investment bank, utility, private equity and independent power producers. Prior to joining NRG, he served as Head of West Power Sales and Origination at Bank of America, where he spearheaded the expansion of a west physical and financial power franchise. During his tenure at Xcel Energy, he was a Senior Originator focused on load following and physical off-take structures for the proprietary trading group. As a Senior Power Marketer at Pattern Development, he negotiated transactions for major development projects such as SunZia. Gene also held foundational roles at Noble Americas Gas & Power and Morgan Stanley, where he began his energy career in 2005. His breadth of experience and passion for the industry makes him a dedicated advocate for the continued growth and integrity of the North American energy markets.

Gene holds a B.S. in Finance and Marketing from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. His professional credentials include the Series 3 and Swaps Proficiency Requirements from the National Futures Association, advanced financial modeling certifications, and FERC and NERC training.
